Regular inspection and maintenance to keep turbine blades safe, efficient, and productive
RS Windtech's blade care programme includes regular inspection and maintenance of wind turbine blades. It improves safety, extends blade life, and helps the turbine keep producing power efficiently.
Our teams are equipped to access blades at height and carry out inspection and maintenance work using rope access and platform-based methods, supported by our workshop and tooling infrastructure.

Inspection of blade root movement and gap using Digital Indicators and Feeler Gauges to identify abnormal movement and gap deviations.

Electrical resistance and continuity testing of the blade lightning protection system to verify proper functionality and reliable lightning protection performance.

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is used to monitor the blade structure and identify potential defects and anomalies.
Inspection of the blade external surface using drone and platform access to identify cracks, erosion, lightning damage, surface damage, and other visible defects.
Visual inspection of the blade interior through manual access and robotic inspection, including difficult-to-reach areas, to identify internal damage and defects.
Sensors monitor changes in blade root gap to detect abnormal movement and gap variations — a solution developed in house, in partnership.

We provide inspection-based repair solutions across five categories of blade damage, with the appropriate repair method selected based on the actual blade condition identified during inspection.

For blade root gap and insert issues, we apply suitable repair methods such as insert replacement, gap correction, torque adjustment, bush/stud retrofit, and up-tower corrective actions to restore blade root integrity and reliable operation.

Inspection and repair of lightning-damaged blade areas using suitable repair methods to restore structural integrity and lightning protection performance.
Inspection and replacement of damaged or defective lightning receptors to restore the blade's lightning protection system.
Inspection of Vortex Generators (VG), Serrated Trailing Edge (STE), Gurney Flaps, and other aerodynamic add-ons. Damaged or worn components are repaired or replaced to maintain aerodynamic performance and support noise control.
Application of 3M Leading Edge (LE) Protection Tape to protect the blade leading edge from rain, dust, sand, and environmental erosion, helping to extend blade service life.

Professional cleaning of the blade surface to remove dirt, dust, oil, insects, and other contaminants, helping maintain blade surface condition and aerodynamic performance.
Blades are among the most exposed and highest-value components of a wind turbine. Left unchecked, minor surface damage can grow into costly structural issues and lost generation. A proactive blade care programme protects both safety and performance.
